KZN Cogta MEC calls for safe return, after traditional council leader kidnapped

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Sipho Hlomuka has called for the release of Ibambabukhosi Ngcobo after unknown men allegedly abducted him, on Monday night.
This comes after Ibambabukhosi Ngcobo who leads the Qiniselani Manyuswa Traditional Council in eZingolweni, under the Ray Nkonyeni local municipality was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint by unidentified men.
Hlomuka’s spokesperson, Senzo Mzila said the MEC has called for Ngcobo’s release after unknown men apparently kidnapped him at gunpoint.
“MEC Hlomuka has expressed his concerns about this incident and called for members of the community to come forward with any information that might assist in ensuring a safe return of Ibambe, and lead to the apprehension of those responsible for the kidnapping,” said Mzila
Meanwhile, police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said a case of kidnapping has been opened after Ngcobo was “allegedly kidnapped by five unknown suspects who posed as police officers”.
“It is alleged that, on Monday night at 19:50, the victim was at his home at Nkulu Ward, KwaNyusa, when he was accosted by the suspects, They drove away in their getaway vehicle,” said Gwala.
In the meantime, Gwala has urged members of the community who may assist with information to call police on 10111.
