‘This is for Riky’: Big Zulu records tribute song to Makhado

While the family of Makhado and South Africans are still reeling the untimely passing of Riky Rick, the Inkabi Records artists have recorded an emotional tribute song dedicated to ‘Boss Zonke’.
In less than forty-eighty hours following the shocking death of Riky made headlines, musos such as Big Zulu and Mduduzi Ncube have decided to convey their heartfelt condolences by recording an eye-tearing song which bids farewell to the fellow artist.
In a 6-minute long video from IG, Big Zulu can be seen with fellow musos in the studio looking-like place while in a process of recording the song before playing the interlude with a voice of Riky, saying “it’s an exchange of energy is an exchange of love, I will catch you guys on the other side and if you never heard from me again…I love you.”
Furthermore, the rising star Mduduzi Ncube can be heard saying that they are recording a song as a tribute to Riky who had been deceased in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“There’s a song that we would like to play for you that we are still working on now. The song is a tribute to Riky,” the singer said in the video.
In addition, the multi-award winning rapper, Big Zulu said the news of passing of Riky did not sit well with him, which triggered him and other artists to make a song in a hope of paying a tribute.
“I have struggled to come to terms with the news of sadly passing of Riky Rick. Me and my fellow artists decided to pay a tribute to my brother (Riky) by making this song.
“This song is a song to heal broken hearts due to the passing of Riky. I know him (Riky) would have done the same. We’ll release it soon, but I was hoping to release it even right now, however, it will be out shortly,” the star added.
On Wednesday, the family of Rikhado Makhado who affectionately known as Riky Rick confirmed his tragic passing which the news left many in disbelief, hoping the news were untrue.
In a statement, the family of the star asked for privacy and prayers while they are mourning Riky Rick.
“The Makhado family request for privacy as they go through this extremely difficult period of grieving. The family are (sic) also thankful for and appreciating the countless messages of love and support received,” reads the statement.
Riky Rick is survived by his wife, two children, his mother and five siblings.
Meanwhile, details with regards to the funeral and memorial services were not confirmed but it will be announced in due course.
